The bottom two teams of the Division II are eliminated from the league and are replaced with winners of the open qualifier held within their Regional League.

At the end of each league, the bottom two teams of the Division I are demoted to Division II, while the top two teams of the Division II are promoted to Division I. In addition, on 22nd January 2022, it was announced that the second and third place teams from each region's qualifiers will compete in a Last Chance Qualifier prior to The International to determine the final two qualification spots - thus expanding the amount of teams in the group stage for The International 2022 from 18 to 20 teams.Įach of the six regions will feature a Regional League, divided into Division I and Division II of eight teams each. However, all Regional Leagues will have an Open Qualifier tournament for their Division II spots meaning that the third tour's open qualifiers will essentially act as TI Open Qualifiers. As in previous season, there will not be any Open Qualifier. All teams that participated in the third tour of the regional leagues have a chance to qualify through the regional qualifiers provided that they do not replace more than two players from their third tour's roster. Six remaining spots will be decided through regional qualifiers. A team that removes a player after securing a slot at a Major will incur a 20% penalty on DPC Points earned during that event, in addition to the normal player-removal penalty.Īt the end of the third tour, the top twelve teams by DPC points are directly qualified for The International 2022. Any team that competes in a major with a substitute will incur a 40% penalty on DPC points earned from that tournament. A team that plays five or more Regional League matches with a substitute will be disqualified and any remaining games will be forfeited. Substitute may be used for four out of the seven matches in the Regional League. However, each roster change will incur a 15% penalty on current points. Rosters will unlock at the conclusion of the Regional League portion of each Tour. Īs in previous season, roster locks are implemented from the start of each Regional League until the end. However, instead of two tours, this season will have three tours. The format for the 2021-2022 season remains largely the same as the previous season.
